What a Great Day!
I just had one of those days that just felt different. I felt so much more relaxed than I had in a long time, I made a point to spend more time on the floor with the kids and trying to enjoy that I have them. I had to rescue Baby Girl from an overly generous big brother who brought, and attempted to feed, her Cheerios while she laid on her back and I used the bathroom (She was totally fine, and we didn’t even come that close to an emergency…). We played puzzles, Baby Girl had tummy time, we cuddled. Big Brother colored and cut paper while I sewed a few quilt blocks together and Baby Girl napped. My 40 minute attempt to get Big Brother down for nap resulted in a 5 minute nap – seriously – and I could have cried, but I didn’t. This evening, Big Brother wanted to hold his sister and the two of them spent some one on one time in a big comfy chair beside me. Baby Girl giggled and giggled – all just because she was so close to her brother. And Big Brother was teaching her about everything. He was talking to her as though he had a story to tell. He talked to her like I do to him, very specific, very confidently. It was PRECIOUS! He would beam at her and she would beam back. They just, bonded. I couldn’t stop grinning and giggling to myself to see them chatting and cuddling and just obviously loving eachother. Wow! And finally, just before I got on here, I was nursing Baby Girl back to sleep and Big Brother was breaking down from exhaustion and he climbed up and laid on the other side and snuggled up and within minutes I had two sleeping children on me. He was so tired that hubby was able to pick him up and change his diaper without a wakeup. I got Baby Sister in her crib, laid Big Brother in our bed and got a few minutes to stretch out, catch up on how my loved ones are doing and just breathe. Very soon, I will pack those little blessings up in the car to get my own mother from the airport and I will get to share the greatest treasures I have ever been blessed with – with her. I always knew I wanted to be a mother. I just didn’t realize how hard and how AMAZING it was. I could simply burst with all of the love I have for those two!
