DIY Projects,  For the Kids

Dinosaur Tails!

I kept seeing these on Pinterest.  I kept thinking, gee, they look really cute.  I kept wondering if my kids would like them.  No… I knew they would, or at least that my son would.  And it was on the “One day, when my kids nap and play nicely like the angels I know they are…” list.  Until last week…  When my husband got home from work on Friday, my son got to show him his Dino Tail.  SO awesome!  My husband was really impressed – he thought they were awesome toys.  Until my son started demonstrating his tail attack on his sister, and the dogs… but still… we love them!

The Tutorial on Running With Scissors is great!  I wasn’t able to do mine in the exact dimensions because I chose to use up my felt supply and the cuts weren’t all the right size.  But… they turned out great!  I used KAM snaps to close the belts (I used strapping instead of felt for the belts.) and the kids love them!

So much squealing and roaring and tail whacking…. yeah… every toy has it’s downside.  I stuffed them with newly washed old pillow stuffing (pillows can’t go to waste in this house.)

In the future, I’ll put the straps higher up on the tail, so that they don’t flop… like my little girl’s tail does.  I might actually go back and attempt a strap re-do there.  Comes with the territory when you start off on a tutorial and then run off on your own.  Whoops!
