The Little Man of the House
My little munchkin is growing, so fast! He is sitting on the floor, playing with his camera, wearing his 24 month pajamas. Yep, I said 24 month. The legs are long, but fitted with tight bottoms and are designed for a thin 2 year old (I think) and so he fits the bill. In this photo, you can see the top. You can also see his mohawk, which is growing into a very comical widow’s peak. What a little man I have.
In addition to his “Momma” and “Poppa” words, he has also created a name for his grandfather, my husband’s dad. He calls him something that sounds like “Pva-Pva”, distincly different from “Poppa.” It is absolutely, adorable! He wakes up, smiles at me, asks for “Poppa” and after I tell him that he’s at work, starts talking about / asking for “Boppa” as well. He is delighted when he comes over and his request has been heard.
He’s also walking! Sometimes it’s only 2 steps, but I’ve seen 8 in a row so far. He is getting more and more stable and much more confident. His biggest challenge is staying calm. He gets near his goals and then squeals with delight and dives toward them. Doesn’t make for a graceful landing. But it’s a start. He’s always been ambitious. He knows how to open cabinets, easy drawers, zippers, shoelaces, and is trying hard to get to the door handles. He has also discovered how to open our oven… no amount of discouragement seems to help. Don’t worry, I’m keeping at it. Nobody wants a munchkin for dinner.
One of his favorite things to do is to see our dog, Jake, laying peacefully and then attack him. He crawls or dives as fast as he can to get on top of him before he can get away. Jake is not a fan of this game, but doesn’t like being in a separate room, so he ends up putting up with it. Carolina, our other schnauzer, on the other hand, adores the little dude. She’ll put up with just about anything as long as he plays with her and shares his food.
With hubby at training, my munchkin has been the man of the house. We’ve had lots of neighbors checking in, looking over things, and family stopping in to help out. We’re not alone much at all, thank God. But having so much more one on one time watching the little guy, and less distraction, I’m really noticing how fast he’s changing. His head comes to the top of the dinette now, he can reach door knobs, has figured out most of the stereo, can eat most food (though he has to be watched since he’ll swallow it all whole and then have tummy issues… I think he spends too much time with the dogs…) and is so perceptive. He’s certainly on a roll.
How blessed I am. To have him, the pups, and to know that my hubby will be home soon. Couldn’t do it without him! I love you, honey!
