Morning Sickness?
Ok, if you don’t want details, skip this one…
Early early on, even in the first pregnancy, I had symptoms. I was tender up front, my tummy wouldn’t stop rolling, I got a little gassier than normal…
This week though, takes the cake. I still have drainage from the flu that had rattled me the last two weeks and it makes me constantly feel like I’m destined to throw up. I have seemingly constant gas pain, which I originally panicked and assumed was cramps from a miscarriage on the way, but weren’t. I’m exhausted and my nose is super super sensitive.
For instance, this morning I woke up because my stomach hurt. I took some sips of water, it hurt more. Despite running to the bathroom, it seems all that is happening is that I’m full of gas. I went to the kitchen to see what I could eat and someone had cooked bacon – yum. None for me though. The smell got my hunger pangs going – and boy are they stronger than ever right now – and my stomach pain kept me seated. I couldn’t make more bacon or eggs, I was too uncomfortable. I poured myself a bowl of baby carrots and retreated to the basement. Though they seem to require neverending amounts of chewing, they are at least easing the hunger portion of my morning tummy troubles. When I stop eating, the drainage tickles the back of my throat and I cough as though I’m going to lose everything (you know, the whole 3 carrots I’ve eaten so far.)
I was warned about morning sickness and had been so proud that I hadn’t dealt with it. I suppose I should be grateful that the gagging feeling I have for a good part of my day doesn’t actually amount to anything more, but I can’t help but fuss to hubby that being pregnant sure isn’t as much fun as I had imagined.
If I had it my way, I’d be shopping for a crib and carseat and stroller now. But we don’t have a house yet to put them in and I’m not due until November, so I guess I could be patient. This “Morning Sickness” stuff that should have been called “First Trimester related Illness” is just so overwhelming I am searching for distractions – new hobbies, shopping, anything. Just make the food stay in one place for a bit…
