Dreaming of Food
Just about everyone who knows me at all knows I’m a foodie. I have my favorite foods, my favorite restaurants, my favorite smells… The last few weeks I didn’t have cravings per say…. nothing sounded awesome. Certain foods sat better than others, but I didn’t have a specific wish list. Then the dreams began. I dream that I am visiting in Maryland, surrounded by friends and family and my favorite foods! I dream of liverwurst sandwiches on baltic rye bread (sorry, Oma, I like it better than the fancy stuff…). I dream of rouladen and sherbert at my Oma’s house. I dream of crab dip and comfort foods at my mom and dads. I dream of American Cold Cuts at Old World Deli & Bakery, with Cream of Crab Soup and Chicken Strips and Rainbow Cake. I dream of a crab pretzel from Silver Spring Mining Company and I long for fresh steamed crabs with crab mustard in them. I have gone from dreams worrying about the baby, about money, about stressful things, to dreams about food, lots of good food and visiting my family. Apparently I am homesick. I even discussed the option of visiting Maryland with James, but I can’t leave the dogs here in the camper while he is at work. If the AC were to go out… nothing good could come from that… So I’m here, in Texas, dreaming and dreaming and dreaming. And so very hungry. James is keeping me fed, but I’m craving food that we cannot find in Houston. At least, food that we haven’t found yet. I’m relieved to be getting a break from the extremem nausea and gas, but my blood pressure still can’t keep up with any exhertion. This pregnancy is not quite what I expected, envisioned, longed for, but I’m sure that God has every little detail of this in his plan. And if Baby Becwar ends up in my arms, anything and everything will be worth it, right? Well, I’m off to continue daydreaming about munchies. This baby is gonna be a foodie like me, I swear.
