Angry Birds Beanbags

My son.  He cracks me up!  His Grandma got him hooked on Angry Birds some time ago.  I wasn’t completely impressed.  Until he started playing Bad Piggies… check that out!

Anyway, I stopped looking for ideas for what to make for the baby shower we’ll be going to soon, and started looking for ideas for things to make for the Big Brother… and for my kids – since they had been so patient.  And then I came across this Blog Post from Kauai Family Travel and thought, “I could TOTALLY make those!”  And then… I did.  I also used  This Post from The Village that Plays Together for inspiration on the Piggies.

I used mostly felt, and followed the hot glue gun advice – brilliant – and filled the birds with rice.  The Piggie I filled with pillow stuffing.  I did this so that I didn’t get Baiyah’d with a giant rice bag.  By the time I completed the red birds, and black birds my son was asking for Piggies and Yellow Birds and a Nest for the birds, and Eggs, and buildings for the piggies, and … and all with laughing encouragement from his Poppa.

So… the nest was a must-have – if only for storage purposes.  I had picked up clear plastic canvas sheets, just in case, and I used one to make a nest… just a low square, which ends of rounding itself out a bit because of the nature of plastic canvas.  And I had some very fuzzy nice brown yarn to make scarves – when we lived in Alaska – so I have been slowly working on covering the canvas to make the nest more, ummm… nest-like.

My son, and daughter are VERY happy with this one… and I think that Big Brother of the little one that we’ll be going to the baby shower for, will hopefully think it’s cool too… because we intend to shower HIM too!  I’m gonna need more felt!!!

Oh… and NO… I did not make my son the slingshot yet.  Although he HAS requested it… For that matter, hubby wants me to make one too… I’ll let you know when I get around to that one.  It might take YEARS.  Wink, wink.
