Ana White : Homemaker & The Modern X Picnic Table!
I have to share with you an amazing resource that I recently found and that has apparently been available for a long time! Her name is Ana White and she lives in Alaska, not so far from where I lived for 5 years. Her site has FREE plans for TONS of projects, most of them fairly easy to do – even for beginners! She definitely focuses on making projects affordable and amazingly beautiful! I strongly suggest – if you enjoy woodworking projects that are actually useful – that you check out her site!
All of that said… here is one of the projects that I completed and LOVE!!!
This project gave me a chance to really use the mitre saw (which I am THRILLED to have!) and definitely presented some challenges. Among other things, I learned that the 1/8 inch that the mitre takes off when cutting really does matter… and when Ana White says to pay attention and cut based on actual measurements, she means it.
All said and done, I LOVE the end result! And so do the kids. You might be wondering why we are missing a bench.. the top is in the garage. I had some issues with wood splitting when I was making the x’s on the bench and as a result, I’m short some treated lumber.
One day it will be completed. I know that I didn’t give much detail on the process, and that’ll be the case as I update you with projects that we’ve already done. For future projects, I’ll try to be more thorough, I promise!
