Flashback : Graduation Announcements

When my husband and his sister graduated in Alaska, him with a masters and her with a bachelors, I had the fun opportunity to create and send out invitations and handle the party.  For the invitations, I designed the graduation cap and used my cricut to cut them out.  A LOT of them!!  For the record, I am aware that the stuff I made was girly.  We really wanted this to be about my sister-in-law.

I used Sure Cuts a lot to do the layout on the cricut and have it do the cutting. 

I cut pink patterned vellum and shiny blue paper squares to go behind the graduation cap.  For the inside of the card, I printed an announcement on plain vellum sheets.  THat wat tricky!! I had to lay them all over our living room to dry as we had an ink-jet printer and I couldn’t risk the ink running.  Tricky business!

I also used flower shaped punches to make confetti.  I did three different styles and colors of flowers and then used eyelets to connect them.  I had little dents all over my desk after this project!  Each flower had to have a hole punched in it for the eyelet, and then the eyelets had to be secured.  My hands were TIRED!  When I realized that they wouldn’t fit on the card as I had originally planned, I put them on extra blue squares and let people write notes in gel pen to the grads.  And… I used the piles of extra punched flowers without eyelets as plain confetti.  I still have quite a bit.
