Survival vs. Sorrow
The alarm went off at 6:45 this morning, signaling that it was time for me to get ready to go. I slowly sat up in bed, urging James to awaken, feeling overwhelmed and under-prepared for the morning ahead of me. We readied ourselves and drove to the Emergency Room. The guy that checked me in was sure that I was wrong and wasn’t supposed to be there. He claimed they don’t perform D&Cs on the weekends and he had received no Orders. After many calls to many different people in the hospital, he finally got the ok to admit me. There I received bracelet #1. Into triage I went. I…

Two Baby Becwars Await our Meeting
I have just returned home and settled down enough to update. The sonogram showed an empty sac. The doctor is pretty positive that I am miscarrying. Since nothing is showing up, including a heartbeat, it would appear that the baby has already been re-absorbed (great mental image huh) and this has been in the works for some time. My energy burst yesterday probably had something to do with the jelly donut I ate and completely unrelated. In case you are reading this and thinking that I am way too calm for what is happening, I assure you I am not. I am trying to make phone calls to tell the…

10 1/2 Weeks & Counting
So I’m officially 10 weeks and almost 5 days pregnant. That means: – My first trimester is almost over – The baby’s probably around 1 1/2 inches long – The sex of the baby is probably already determined and developed, though we might not be able to see it on ultrasound for a while yet. – I’m finally showing and the bottom part of it is definitely not bloating! Now there isn’t even a flat area UNDER my belly. Total curve all the way down. Sorry if TMI. This development is very exciting for me, because it’s really the baby… I’m really glad the first trimester is almost over, and…

UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN
So, contrary to popular believe, it is normal for most women to lose weight in their first trimester. This has worked out to my benefit because although my stomach is plumping a bit and I’ve bloated enough to make me feel quite pregnant, I continue to lose weight and doc pretty much aoks my eating more. Since the last OB appointment, however, I’ve lost near 10 lbs. Granted, I had my boots on at the time, but still… On top of this… I took an Immodium AD on Saturday hoping I’d get some sleep after the relapse of the tummy flu… and it apparently decided to work mildly at the…

Dinosaur Burps
That’s what I sounded like this morning… a dinosaur burping. I think the flu has finally passed. Those who know me will not be suprised to know I went to a gun show and outdoor show and dog park Saturday, consuming a cheese dog, nachos, peanut butter fudge and lanjaegers. This is all, of course, barely after making it 12 hours not being sick. So… I was super-super-super-sick again on Saturday night and well into Sunday morning. I finally had a tuna fish bagel last night and the only remnants of my stomach bug are my dinosaur burps. I think I’m pretty hungry now. I’m trying to decide what to…

Shopping Fun
So, I have a wonderful sister-in-law here in Alaska who is up for any girly stuff as long as it doesn’t have anything to do with babies. She jokes that she’s missing that mommy chromosome. Lucky for her, her husband doesn’t really need to have kids either, so they make a good fit. My little sister loves kids, but she’s miles and miles away in California. And all I want? To go shopping for comfy clothes and stuff to keep me busy when all I feel like doing is sitting around. But I hate shopping alone. Today, however, my wonderful hubby gave me a wonderful gift. He took me shopping!…

Morning Sickness?
Ok, if you don’t want details, skip this one… Early early on, even in the first pregnancy, I had symptoms. I was tender up front, my tummy wouldn’t stop rolling, I got a little gassier than normal… This week though, takes the cake. I still have drainage from the flu that had rattled me the last two weeks and it makes me constantly feel like I’m destined to throw up. I have seemingly constant gas pain, which I originally panicked and assumed was cramps from a miscarriage on the way, but weren’t. I’m exhausted and my nose is super super sensitive. For instance, this morning I woke up because my…

Baby Names
I’ve found at least one way so far to stay a little distracted from the pregnancy side-effects… trying to choose baby names. GIRL NAMES Anabelle Claire Becwar(Grace-Favour/Clear-Bright) Liesel Marie Becwar(My God is a vow/Bitter) Klara Adalene Becwar(Clear-Bright/Noble One) Brigitta Isabelle Becwar(The Exhalted One/My God is a Vow) Mirabelle Ilianna Becwar(Lovely/The Lord has Responded) Nicolette Becwar(Victory of the People/) Valerie Becwar(To be Healthy-Strong/) BOY NAMES Hunter Elliot Becwar(Hunter/My God is the Lord) Fredrick Isaiah Becwar(Peaceful Ruler/God is My Salvation) Theodor Isaac Becwar(Gift from God/He Laughs) Aaron Vaughn Becwar(Mountain/Small) Nathaniel Reuben Becwar(Gift of God/Behold, a son) Noah Becwar(Rest,comfort/) Spencer Becwar(Someone who gives out Goods/) The above are some of my ideas. I’d…

The Beginning of the Baby Saga
So… last summer (2006), my parents finally came to visit me here in Fairbanks Alaska. On the day before they left, I took a pregnancy test – 3 actually – probably more because I’ve wanted kids my whole life than because I had symptoms, but who cares why – I took the tests. They came up positive. I told my parents, called my husband, told my in-laws (who we happen to live with), called the great-grandparents to be… One week later – I miscarried. We knew having children might be a challenge for us. I’d had a strange cycle all of my life and most of my docs said they…

No Explanation Neccessary
On March 27th, hubby and I went to the doctor for our final ultrasound. I had hubby come in case my “I am truly prepared – I can handle anything” attitude flew out the door. That and in case I got a case of the dizzys – this flu was still kicking my butt. The doctor kindly asked “You aren’t going to lose it if we don’t find anything, are you?”. He didn’t expect any good news and neither did we. I assured him I’d be fine. I told him I’d probably be quite quiet, but most likely could handle it. He did his thing, pulled up the image on…
